Placement

At RBC, our Director carefully considers each new dancer's prior training and dedication when determining class placements. We hold group auditions for new dancers over the summer, before the school year begins.

For current RBC dancers, advancement to the next level is by invitation only, and placement is not automatically carried over from year to year. If a dancer's progress seems better suited for a recreational track, they may not be offered a spot in the more advanced levels for the upcoming year. Some students may be placed on our waitlist and considered for a second round of enrollment based on availability.

Tuition

Annual tuition is paid in two installments. 50% is due upon enrollment and the remaining 50% is due on December 1st along with Recital Fee, if participating. We accept credit card payments through our secure online system and recommend saving your card in the Portal for easier second installment payment. Sibling discounts of 5% are offered for families with multiple students. Tuition is non-refundable.

Attire

We have a Required Uniform at RBC. All Required Uniform information can be found on our Levels pages with links for online purchasing. Alternatively, you can visit Beam and Barre in Cos Cob or Repertoire Dance Shop in Scarsdale if you prefer to shop for these items in person.

*Get 10% off all Beam and Barre purchases, online or in-store, by using the code RBC10

*Get 10% off all Repertoire Dance Shop purchases by mentioning Rye Ballet Conservatory.

Hair must be secured neatly in a high bun at the crown of the head. Jewelry is not permitted, aside from stud earrings, as jewelry can be a distraction to students. Tights should be in good condition with no noticeable rips. Shoes must be hole-free.

Gentlemen enrolled in the conservatory must wear a white t-shirt, black footed pants, and black split sole shoes for all levels. The boys-only class may be taken in a white t-shirt, black athletic sweatpants or shorts and tight-fitting ankle socks.

Conduct

Our main goal at RBC is to nurture excellence and to teach our dancers to be outstanding members of society. All of our students and their families are responsible for exhibiting the highest standards of behavior. We do not tolerate bullying, harassment or discriminatory behavior of any kind. If such behavior is exhibited, such parties will be removed from our program immediately.

The supportive and caring culture of RBC is of the utmost importance to us. We thank you for helping to create a welcoming environment for our students and faculty.

Class Arrival and Late Policy:
Students should arrive at least fifteen minutes before their class begins to warm up. Arriving after class starts is disruptive to both the teacher and fellow students. If a student arrives late, they must check in at the office before joining the class. If a student is more than ten minutes late, they will be asked to sit and take notes.

Building Access and Pick-Up:
A staff member will arrive 30 minutes before the first class each day to open the building, office, and studio for drop-off. Please ensure that pick-up is prompt after class ends. If you anticipate being late, call the office to inform a staff member.

For Rye Arts Center, drop-off should be at the Main Office front door. Dismissal will be from the side door by the ramp. Please pull your car around so that you are visible from the doorway, helping students locate their rides without leaving the faculty’s sight. Note that the parking lot around the RAC is one-way.

For The Chapel, drop-off must be at the front doors facing Post Road, and dismissal will be through the back door and down the ramp to the parking lot. Please avoid pick-ups in the front of the building. The driveway loop around The Chapel is also one-way.

Make-Up Classes:
If you miss a class, please schedule a make-up by emailing info@ryeballet.com. Make-up classes should be taken in the same level or a lower level than the one you are enrolled in and should include all classes such as ballet, character, and contemporary.

RECITAL

Performance rehearsals will generally take place during your regularly scheduled class time in the spring. It's important to attend all classes, as each dancer’s presence is crucial for staging and for helping others learn their stage patterns and choreography. Frequent absences can impact the overall performance and may lead to re-casting or removal from the show.

If a dancer accumulates more than 5 class absences or more than 3 rehearsal absences, they may face re-casting or removal from the performance. Please note that the Friday Dress Rehearsal is mandatory for all students, with no exceptions.

Lower School dancers will participate in one performance, which includes a Recital Fee of $175. All other dancers will perform in all three shows, with a Recital Fee of $325. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to making our performances a success!
